NEW DELHI : Gold prices breached the 14K-mark in India on Friday as festival buying intensified amid crumbling equity markets across the world.
Standard gold rose by Rs 350 per 10 grams to 14,200 per 10 gram in the opening session here in the bullion market here from Rs 13,820 previously.
Earlier, Standard gold rose by Rs 255 per 10 grams to open at Rs 14,075 from Rs 13,820 previously.
Pure gold also spurted to Rs 14,145 from Wednesday's close of Rs 13,885.Silver ready also shot up by Rs 510 per kilo to Rs 20,680 from last close of Rs 20,170.
Gold prices in Singapore rose to an over two-month high while US futures jumped nearly four per cent as investors scrambled for safety after heavy losses in share values.
