Geography is the matrix of history?

It might help if the originator of the topic was a little more clear as to what he means by the title.
 
I guess what deepak meant was that history is always in context of geographies and cultures. History is based on comparisons of various significant events that happened at the same time in different geographies like the industrial revolution, fight of independence, the technology boom, the dot com bust etc etc
