FMS to restructure 2 courses
The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) in Delhi University is restructuring two part-time management programmes for the 2012-13 session.
FMS plans to shorten the duration of its MBA (part time) and MBA (health care administration) programme from three to two years from the next academic session. The proposal has been placed before the faculty.
The admission process for these courses usually starts by October/November. The faculty in a recent notice stated that it will restructure these courses, which will commence from July 2012. Hence, the admission notification for these will be announced in February/March 2012.
After the faculty clears this proposal, it will be sent to the University for approval. Once the proposal is accepted, the admission process is likely to start by February, said sources. The entrance exam is likely to be held in March. A senior faculty member said the part-time MBA programme is popular among working executives because of its flexibility and duration. The new restructured programmes are likely to be more intensive as the course content, sources say, will not be compromised.
In August this year, FMS decided to do away with the entrance test for its flagship MBA programme for the 2012-13 session. Applicants will now be given admission on the basis of their 2011 Common Admission Test score.
Teachers, however, are unhappy that the entrance exam has been scrapped. This was done after DU authorities said the University would not be able to conduct the entrance test.
