The Full-time MBA program,

which runs 12 months, prepares students to excel in the rapidly changing and highly technical global marketplace. This program is designed for students who are disciplined, organized and welcome fast-paced challenges. The unique structure of this MBA program allows student the opportunity to work with the same group of classmates from start to finish. Our full-time MBAs develop lifelong relationships through the program's emphasis on camaraderie and effective team interaction. Each May, the full-time program begins with an intensive three-day orientation that includes the FSU Challenge Ropes Course to stimulate team building. Despite the program's intensity and rigor, many students also participate in the MBA Internship Program to gain additional work experience throughout the year. In addition, professional and career development programs offered give our students a competitive advantage. Graduates from the full-time MBA program are able to hit the ground running.

Students in the full-time MBA program may choose from three concentrations as part of their program.

* Finance
* Marketing and Supply Chain Management
* General MBA

Finance

Understanding finance is a critical component in today's business environment. The effective allocation of resources and capital management can separate the most successful corporations from those that are bankrupt and insolvent. In Florida State University's MBA program, specializing in finance will provide exposure to multiple areas such as capital markets, corporate financial decision making, portfolio management and financial risk management.

The faculty at FSU, with three eminent scholars, are considered some of the best in the field and conduct research in all areas of finance. Students will have access to these areas of specialization providing comprehensive coverage, as well as the latest market evolutions within the field.

MBA students also will have access to the most current finance data bases and other cutting-edge resources. Students will have the opportunity to interact with the top finance academicians and practitioners in the world by attending the SunTrust Visiting Professor Speaker Series and the finance department speaker workshop.

All three courses listed below are designed to enhance understanding of key issues in finance.

Marketing & Supply Chain Management

The end-to-end supply chain involves all the major activities of an organization, beginning with sourcing the item from global suppliers, then creating the goods or services, getting those to the customers and following up to ensure their satisfaction. This means there are multiple career entry points for challenging jobs in the supply chain. Candidates must like working with people and being part of teams. They must be self-motivated and willing to assume a great deal of responsibility early in their careers.

Specific job opportunities are available in business-to-business marketing, customer service, supply management, purchasing, transportation and logistics. Demand for graduates is strong, and salaries are very competitive. Previous Florida State University graduates have been hired by Target, Harris, CSX, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Pulte Homes, Norfolk Southern.

This concentration prepares students to excel in the future world of supply chain management by providing the student with the necessary skills to market and manage in dynamic organizations through an understanding of complex supply chains - from the suppliers to the final customer.

Concentration in Real Estate Finance and Analysis

The demand for graduate education in real estate has increased dramatically over the last decade due to the advancements that have taken place in the real estate finance and investment markets. This includes increased involvement of institutions in commercial real estate investment and lending activities, the growth in the securitization of real estate equity and debt assets on Wall Street (e.g., REITs, MBSs, and CMBSs), and the consolidation of regional real estate service firms into larger national and international entities.

Substantial opportunities exist in Florida’s rapidly growing real estate market for graduates trained in commercial real estate finance and investment. Thus, in addition to having access to the best faculty and the highest quality course content, our Real Estate Concentration within the online MBA program prepares students to excel in an ever-changing marketplace. Below are the three real estate electives required to earn a concentration.

* REE 5435 - Real Estate and its Legal Environment.
* REE 5205 - Real Estate Finance and Appraisal.

General MBA

Concentration in Hospitality Administration

The Concentration in Hospitality Administration provides students cutting-edge applications for today's industry. The online MBA hospitality law course focuses on employment conflicts and the typical management pitfalls that so often lead to litigation. The online MBA hospitality marketing course is geared toward strategic marketing in this increasingly competitive and technologically oriented business. The online MBA hospitality feasibility course is designed to teach the student about the appropriate analysis used in the development and acquisition of hospitality businesses.

All three courses listed below are designed to build on the MBA student's previous work experience. The MBA can be used to advance your career at your current company, to open up consulting opportunities and to enter a new career in academia.

* HFT 5477 - Financial and Cost Control Systems for Hospitality and Tourism Organizations.
* HFT 5697 - Legal Environment of Hospitality and Tourism Organizations.
* HFT 5506 - Services Marketing and Research for Hospitality and Tourism Organizations.
 
JD/MBA Joint Degree

The Juris Doctor / Master of Business Administration joint degree program provides the opportunity to study intensively how the law governs such matters as the financing of business ventures, the responsibility of a firm's managers to its owners and the management of financial and business risk. Students in this degree program complete graduate courses from the College of Law and the College of Business at Florida State University. Graduates of the program become business leaders or corporate counsel in cities throughout Florida and the nation. The JD/MBA has been incorporated into the law school's new focus on law, economics and business, and scholarships are available from the law school to select students interested in pursuing this joint degree.


Applicants must apply for admission to both colleges. Both the GMAT and LSAT must be taken in order to be considered. Applicants to the MBA program must have a bachelor's degree, an upper division (junior and senior) grade point average of 3.0, and a minimum score of 550 on the GMAT. Once a student is accepted into both colleges, he or she must then complete an application for the joint degree program. Application forms are available at the College of Law's Office of Admissions and Records. This normally is done during the first year of law school. The first year of study is generally done at the College of Law.

The M.S.W. /M.B.A is a joint collaboration between the College of Social Work and the College of Business. The joint graduate degree is designed for students in both programs who wish to expand their understanding of the connection between these two fields of study and gain expertise working in social services agencies.

The credit hours for Advanced Standing social policy and administration (SPA) social work students would total 33 and for business administration students, there would be 36 hours for a total of 69 hours. Normally the number of credit hours for the MSW is 39 and the MBA is 42 for a total of 81 hours. Those SPA students who are in the Traditional MSW program (61 credit hours) or the clinical concentration may be eligible for this joint degree, but will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
