This book is written by an IIT-IIM alumni named Chetan Bhagat. This book is really a page turner and very good book to read. This book explains the life of 3 friends who are not nerds and they will be getting around 5 GPA in the semesters. They will do all the mischievs expected out a college student.Among the 3 friends (Alok)one would will be sort of guy who complains about the educational system in IIT.Another guy named Ryan, whose family is in need of his income, tries to fight with Alok all the time.Caught between them is Hari ,who tries to pacify both of them.

For rest of the story read the book

In my opinion this book is a good one.

It was Ryan who used to complain the most about the educational system and the other two used to support him.

Again Ryan was the son of a well-off person while Alok had to fight against financial problems.

Let me add a few points from my side....

The book is unconventional in a no. of ways. Firstly it focusses around the youth and gets u all nostalgic about the college days.....

The book is about 3 people ryan, Alok and hari.... and very interestingly shows how (more or less) life in an IIT revolves around studies, entertainment, late night preparation for tests, romance and partying.

These guys are brilliant and wish to break away from the unconventional ways of mugging stuff. They wish to do something more creative.... So they come up with ideas on how to study as well as enjoy their lives simultaneously.

Like many people they try to pass the tests by cheating (tried to break into the HOD's room to steal the papers) so that they could spend lesser amount of time studying, but get caught.

It also highlights how friendship revolves around the three and they playful, teasing remarks to each other..... etc.

One can also witness little romance and sex between the protagonist, Hari and his teacher's daughter, Neha (i guess)

I must confess that Bhagat has put adequate amount of masala, entertainment and all other emotions, in a very balanced way, to make it an amazing book. I would recommend it to all.
