Fiesta 2013: Glory Beckons

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi saw hectic activity on the campus this weekend with a plethora of events, discussions, and inter-college competitions at the Annual Management Fest Fiesta 2013: Glory Beckons. [/b]The fest was organised in association with Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Airtel and The Financial Express, with Red FM as the Radio partner. With participation from the top B-schools including the IIMs, XLRI, MDI, SPJIMR, experienced judges from best-in-class companies in each domain and exciting prizes, the two day extravaganza had the campus abuzz with activity.

The inauguration ceremony of Fiesta 2013 was attended by Dr Raj Dhankar (Dean, FMS) and guest of honor, Mr Sanjay Sethi (Vice President of Tata Services). The opening address was given by Mr Richie Pandey, Secretary, Team Fiesta who elaborated on the introduction of new events and cultural activities which further propelled the stature and popularity of Fiesta in the B-school circuit.

The flagship event - Fiesta Icon 5.0 continued to capture interest of students across campuses. After finding their way through a labyrinth of events across various management domains, 13 finalists competed in a 2 day event to win the title of The Icon. This was a home-run as FMS managed to keep the title in-house by winning the trophy. The Consulting club presented Game of Thrones, a strategy event that sought out to challenge every budding consultant worth his or her salt. With multiple testing rounds, this one was a true test of consulting acumen. Vihaan, the social service cell in collaboration with Teach For India organised Uththaan, an event designed to put the fertile minds of B-school students competing to prove their analytical capabilities and innovative thinking.The Marketing society, presented Pandemonium- a National level Market competition on preparing a strategy for making Promed a billion dollar company by 2020. The response was overwhelming with the team from JBIMS winning the honours followed by IIM-A and IIM-S. Finsoc, the finance society, presented Finotaur, an extensive finance case study involving key aspects of finance followed by a grilling Q&A session by the judges.

Media Relations Cell came up with an exciting event of their own for the first time - Media Maestros that tested participants on their knowledge of current affairs, social media gyan, PR skills, innovation, creative writing skills and humour quotient. The event saw participation from more than 540 students belonging to both UG and PG colleges and was thoroughly appreciated by all. The Entrepreneurship Cell launched Vishleshan, sponsored by Picovico.com and Aavawaters. The participants were asked to work on critical real-time issues faced by entrepreneurs. The Systems Society presented Opsilium, a supply chain case study competition and Cloud9, an IT case study competition, which were lapped up by the students as they appealed to the IT geek in many of them. The HR & OB society presented antHRopos, a competition to test the participants comprehension of the industry and the pertinent HR issues.

Alongside, the fun never stopped with On-the-spot events and Cultural events like quizzes, debate, group dance, fashion show and many more. A major attraction was the street play competition on responsible drinking organised in association with SABMiller India. The festival ended with a band competition which saw participation from 10 different bands from colleges of the likes of SRCC, KMC and a semi-professional band Cenotaur. With that, Fiesta 2013 came to an end with the winners walking away with bulky cheques, while the other participants raked in vouchers and goodies provided by our various sponsors.
