Following a complaint by Shiv Sena workers, the police on Wednesday arrested three women for allegedly running a fake degree racket in Thane. Vikas Repale of the Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Sena claimed he posed as a student and “bought” an MBA degree from the National Academy of Business Studies for Rs 75,000 without attending any class. The three accused — Seema Nair, Kavita Shashidharan and Arshi Khan — however, claimed their courses are AICTE-recognised and their institute is affiliated to St Peter’s University in Tamil Nadu.
Senior Police Inspector B R Chaudhary said, “The women told us they got the degree certificates printed from a photocopy centre in Andheri. For now, they are in police custody till Thursday and the probe is on.”
