Wall Street ends flat on Friday. Stocks ended Friday’s session little changed after a three-day drop. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 15.93 points or 0.1 percent, to end at 15,755.36. The S&P 500 dipped a mere 0.18 of a point or 0.01 percent, to finish at 1,775.32. The Nasdaq Composite added 2.572 points or 0.06 percent, to close at 4,000.975.

U.S. stocks advanced on Monday amid optimism that economic recovery will gain steam in 2014, while expectations that Federal Reserve will keep policy loose even after its eventual decision to taper its USD85 billion in monthly asset purchases.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.82%u0025, the S&P 500 index rose 0.63%, while the Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.71%.

US stocks closed slightly lower on Tuesday, with investors reluctant to make big bets before the results of a Federal Reserve meeting that could give some clarity as to when the central bank will begin trimming its stimulus.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 9.31 points, or 0.06 percent, to close at 15,875.26. The Standard & Poor%u2019s 500 Index declined 5.54 points, or 0.31 percent, to finish at 1,781.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 5.84 points, or 0.14 percent, to end at 4,023.68.

US stocks staged an explosive rally on Wednesday, driving the Dow and the S&P 500 to all-time closing highs after the Federal Reserve announced it would start to unwind its historic stimulus.

The Dow Jones industrial average surged 292.71 points or 1.84 percent, to end at 16,167.97, a record closing high. The S&P 500 gained 29.65 points or 1.66 percent, to finish at 1,810.65, also a record closing high. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 46.38 points or 1.15 percent, to close at 4,070.06.
