The Dow Jones industrial average soared to a record closing high on Tuesday, breaking through levels last seen in 2007 and as investors rushed in to join the party in anticipation of more gains.

The Dow Jones industrial average shot up 125.95 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 14,253.77. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index gained 14.59 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,539.79. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 42.10 points, or 1.32 percent, to 3,224.13.
 
Epic US Market Update

The S&P 500 set a record closing high on Thursday, finishing a fifth consecutive month of gains to extend a four-year rally.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 52.38 points, 0.36 percent, to finish at 14,578.54, and the Nasdaq Composite added 11 points, or 0.34 percent, to 3,267.52.
 
The four-day rally continued in the US markets. Dow and S&P 500 ended at fresh closing highs.

On US economic data front, the weekly jobless claims declined by 42,000 to 346,000 and US import prices dropped 0.5% in the month of March.

However, Euro zone fears continued to weigh on investor sentiment.

US stocks jumped more than 1 percent on Tuesday, a day after their worst decline since November, as gold prices rebounded and earnings from Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson improved the outlook for first-quarter results.

The US equity markets closed off their best levels Thursday, but the major indices still managed to finish higher as investors cheered a batch of better-than-expected earnings and an upbeat jobless claims report.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 24.50 points to 14,700.80. The S&P 500 gained 6.37 points to close at 1,585.16. The Nasdaq Composite gained 20.33 points to 3,289.99.
