The Asian markets were trading mixed on Monday with Japanese and South Korean markets shut for holidays.

The China’s April HSBC manufacturing PMI was at 48.1 against 48, MoM. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat at 22,249.70.

China’s Shanghai Composite shed 0.33 percent or 6.74 points at 2,019.62.

Singapore’s Straits Times was up 0.15 percent or 4.80 points at 3,257.35.

Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was up 0.10 percent or 8.96 points at 8,876.28.

Asian stocks eked out slim gains on Tuesday in holiday-thinned trade with markets in South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan shut. China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was up 0.12 percent or 2.48 points at 2,029.83. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was flat at 3,244.58. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was up 0.10 percent or 8.79 points at 8,879.22.

Asian equities declined on Wednesday as trading volumes returned to normal with Japan and South Korea resuming trade following a long weekend.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 0.57 percent or 11.50 points at 2,016.54. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.84 percent or 185.50 points at 21,790.83.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei tumbled 2.22 percent or 320.85 points at 14,136.66. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times declined 0.48 percent or 15.52 points at 3,230.04.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite fell 0.40 percent or 7.85 points at 1,951.59. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted shed 0.47 percent or 41.57 points at 8,870.82.

Asian markets were trading mixed on Friday. Taiwan Weighted fell 0.45 percent and Nikkei gained 0.27 percent.

China has come out with its April CPI data, which was up 1.8 percent, YoY and down 0.3 percent, MoM. Meanwhile, Shanghai Composite rose 0.18 percent or 3.63 points at 2,018.91.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.32 percent or 69.62 points at 21,767.50. Japan%u2019s Nikkei gained 0.27 percent or 38.32 points at 14,202.10.
