The Indian rupee gained 17 paise in the opening trade at 54.34 per dollar versus 54.51 Wednesday.

The euro rose to 1.31 to the dollar. The dollar index slipped to 82.20 levels.
 
Epic Update: Indian Rupee

The Indian rupee rose by 22 paise to 53.92 per US dollar in early trade on Wednesday as against previous day%u2019s close of 54.14 per dollar.
According to Himanshu Arora of Religare, the rupee may strengthen further today as the drop in gold and crude prices will help cap India%u2019s current account deficit in the short-term.
He feels Finance Minister%u2019s statement that India is committed to reduce its fiscal deficit may further underpin the rupee.

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 54.15 per dollar on Friday as against previous day%u2019s close of 54.22.

The euro stayed above 1.30 to the dollar. The dollar index was around 82.75 levels.
