Asian equities rose on Thursday, extending the previous day’s rally, amid growing confidence in the global economic recovery but Shanghai bucked the trend due to fears of tight liquidity.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 0.39 percent or 88.77 points at 22,990.77.

Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.22 percent or 34.75 points at 15,843.48.

South Korea’s Seoul Composite added 0.21 percent or 4.17 points at 1,957.45.

Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted advanced 0.71 percent or 60.92 points at 8,663.47.

Singapore’s Straits Times was flat at 3,142.72 and China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.41 percent or 8.29 points at 2,015.06.

Asian equity markets was subdued on the final trading day of the week after underwhelming US earnings results pulled the plug on a two-day rally on Wall Street.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite shed 0.67 percent or 13.56 points at 2,010.14. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng slipped 0.52 percent or 119.78 points at 22,866.63.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei fell 0.52 percent or 81.51 points at 15,665.69. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was down 0.64 percent or 19.99 points at 3,120.45.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was down 0.09 percent or 1.75 points at 1,955.57. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted fell 0.25 percent or 21.82 points at 8,590.29.

Asian equity markets started the week lower on Monday, after a mixed performance on Wall Street Friday and amid caution ahead of Chinese economic data.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 0.18 percent or 3.61 points at 2,001.34. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.45 percent or 103.55 points at 23,030.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei declined 0.77 percent or 120.71 points at 15,613.75. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times shed 0.48 percent or 15.02 points at 3,132.31.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was up 0.14 percent or 2.77 points at 1,947.25. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted rose 0.17 percent or 14.32 points at 8,610.32.

Asian stocks rose on Tuesday as fears over a credit squeeze in China eased while trading volumes were also thin in the absence of a lead from Wall Street overnight.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite advanced 0.36 percent or 7.08 points at 1,998.34. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng rose 0.60 percent or 137.68 points at 23,066.63 and Japan%u2019s Nikkei gained 1.07 percent or 166.71 points at 15,808.39.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was up 0.17 percent or 5.45 points at 3,134.24 and South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite rose 0.28 percent or 5.44 points at 1,959.22. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 8,624.24.
