Student Responsibilities:
1. Attend all classes. If you are going to be absent you must notify me 24 hours
before class time. Absenteeism normally results in a lower course grade, and is an
early indication of future problems within the workplace. Develop good
attendance and participation habits now by being on time and present for every
class.
2. Read all assigned material.
3. Make sure you submit all assignments on the day they are due. Late assignments
will be marked down 10% for each day they are late. Also you should note:
a. All papers are to be submitted in APA format. Samples are provided in the
course web site.
b. Some papers are to be submitted electronically (formatted in Microsoft
Word) others are to be turned in as a Hard Copy. A forum will be
provided for you to submit your electronic assignments. Do not email me
papers.

Course Activities (what do I need to do to pass this course):
1. Quizzes: Every two chapters there will be a short quiz on what you have read.
2. Business Plan: You will be asked to submit a business plan. The plan is broken up
into four parts and is to be handed in throughout the semester. Normally business
plans run around 45-60 pages (Team) 30-40 pages (Individual), double-spaced
with financials on the back. Each draft you submit (four in all) we will sit down
and talk about how to improve on what you have submitted. At the end of the
course, each student/team will draw together their plan into a presentation. The
presentation will be done in front of a panel of entrepreneurs from the greater
Cedar Valley area. The presentations can be creative, but should be done to sell
the idea and elicit support for the venture. For these submissions you will need to
get a three ring binder so you can compile your submission. Grading rubrics will
apply.
You can either form a team, of no more than 3 people, or you can do the plan
on your own. Teams typically create better results.
It is VERY important to note that the due dates for the plans are fixed. If a
person/team misses a more that two due dates for the submissions, they will
automatically fail the business plan portion of the course (fail the course since its
worth between 600 and 750 points).
