About the Cranfeld MSc in Management
What will you learn?
Through your studies, you will gain a sound understanding of core
management theories, concepts, tools and techniques, and how to
apply them creatively in real-life situations. The programme will:

The Cranfeld MSc in Management is a full-time 13-month programme

Marketing Strategy and Planning
This module will familiarise you with the principles
of strategic marketing and how to apply them to
the marketing planning process. At the end of this
practical module you will understand the marketing
planning process, be able to structure and prepare
a comprehensive strategic marketing plan and
evaluate marketing plans prepared by others.
Managing Proftability, Liquidity and Asset
Utilisation
This module will introduce you to the role of fnance
within an organisation and familiarise you with a
number of traditional and contemporary costing
approaches. Upon completion of the module you
will be able to identify how management decisions
impact the fnancial performance of an organisation,
appreciate the theoretical concepts that underpin
cost accounting and compare the strengths and
weaknesses of diferent costing approaches. You
will also be able to interpret company accounts and
apply fnancial tools and techniques to appraise
project, product and customer proftability.
Improving Decision Quality with Management
Science
This module will introduce you to the management
science approach by presenting a range of
techniques that are used to support management
decisions. The techniques that will be covered
range from simple graphs to deterministic and
stochastic modelling, including statistical analysis
and forecasting methods. All lectures are designed
to be interactive and the focus of the module will be
on the practical application of methods and on the
interpretation of data.
Economics for Managers
This module will introduce you to the concepts and
techniques associated with managerial economics
at both the microeconomic and macroeconomic
level. You will learn to employ economic reasoning
when making choices about the use of resources,
recognise the importance of marginal analysis
and diminishing returns in the context of business
and consumer decisions, and analyse the external
environment to understand the forces shaping the
frm's competitive environment.
Managing Operations
This module will teach you about the strategic
role of operations and how to design and manage
the operations process. It will cover the tools and
techniques of process improvement, capacity and
inventory management, quality management, and
performance management. You will learn to evaluate
the contribution of operations to the development
and implementation of successful business strategy,
to appraise the critical issues faced by diferent
operations, to select priorities for operational
performance improvement, and plan the means
to bring about that improvement.

This module will examine the key challenges that
companies face and the range of approaches
they employ as they seek to navigate complex
environments. You will develop your ability to
make strategic decisions, improve your ability
to think strategically and apply various strategic
management tools and techniques in practice.
Managing People and Organisations
This module will introduce you to various aspects
of people and organisations. It combines key
ideas from organisational behaviour, psychology,
sociology, and human resource management in
order to provide you with a basic understanding
and fuency in recognising, understanding and
utilising what has been termed the "human factor"
in organisations. We will also consider the impact
of the external environment on organisations and
address notions of organisational change.
Managing Corporate Sustainability
Global sustainability challenges are shaping the way
businesses operate in the twenty-frst century. This
module outlines the major sustainability challenges
and explores how progressive organisations are
responding to them in terms of organisational
mind-set, leadership, value-chain, collaboration
and change management. It will give you a better
understanding of how corporate action can be best
confgured to promote responsible and sustainable
business strategies, and invite you to think about the
purpose of business.
ELECTIVES
Managing Business Technology Investments
This module will teach you how to manage
technology in order to deliver real business
benefts, and how to manage the business changes
associated with the implementation of large
technology investments. You will learn to assess
where business technology can add value to an
organisation's performance, to identify the benefts
of a business technology initiative, to develop a
business change implementation plan, and to
identify risks associated with technology-enabled
business change.
Organisational Performance: Direction,
Control and Measurement
This module will give you a thorough understanding
of what is meant by organisational performance and
introduce you to the area of control, performance
measurement and performance management. It
will encourage you to consider why organisations
measure performance and how performance is
delivered and measured. You will consider how
diferent functions with the organisation, such as
HR, fnance and marketing view organisational
performance and review the efects that control
systems can have on an organisation.
Supply Chain Management
This module will provide you with an understanding
of supply chain management concepts and
principles and illustrate how they can contribute
to achieving sustainable competitive advantage.
You will learn to apply diferent supply chain and
product design strategies and formulate ways to
improve supply chain integration to reduce loss
in value in terms of time, cost and quality. You will
also participate in an interactive and competitive
business game that will help you to apply your
learning.
Disruptive Innovation
This module presents disruptive innovation as a
key strategic competence. You will gain practical
experience of developing a disruptive innovation
through a group design exercise that will be
presented to practitioners. You will learn to identify
and apply recent, relevant theory to the study
of disruptive innovation, understand the core
theoretical aspects of disruptive innovation in
technologies, services and business models, identify
a target for disruptive innovation, and understand
the importance of a coherent value proposition.
Entrepreneurship
This module will explore the knowledge and skills
required for the management of new ventures
across the entrepreneurial life cycle. Topics include:
determinants of the success of new ventures;
managing a business start-up; due diligence on new
ventures; business planning, managing growth and
exiting; fnance and accounting for owner/managers;
venture fnance; and the role of public policy in new
venture creation. This module is a pre-requisite if you
wish to undertake a new venture internship in the
fnal part of the programme.
Mastering Project Management
This module will introduce you to the fundamentals
of project management. You will learn about the
lifecycle approach to project management, its
applications and benefts, and learn to understand
the relationship between business strategies,
portfolios, programmes and projects. The module
will cover the key theories, principles, processes,
tools and techniques underpinning project
management, and give you the opportunity to create
a plan for implementing a specifc business change
or an entrepreneurial initiative.
PRACTICAL MODULES
Management Consulting
This module will bring together your learning
and help you to apply it in practice. Working with
a real-life business problem, your team will be
required to gather relevant data, use appropriate
tools/frameworks to analyse the data, and
propose innovative, pragmatic and achievable
recommendations. A panel of experts will assess
your proposed solutions and give you feedback.
Research Methods and Statistics
This module will equip you to design, conduct and
report on your research project. You will learn to
articulate and defne management problems and
design research that will help you to make informed
management decisions.
Internship project and Thesis
The thesis will require you to undertake a major
research project in association with a three-month
internship project. You will apply your management
knowledge, skills, and analytical abilities to real-life
situations and demonstrate your ability to research
issues, critically evaluate data and information,
apply tools and techniques to solve management
problems, and write a report concisely, informatively
and persuasively.

FEES
The tuition fees for the Cranfeld MSc in
Management starting September 2015 are:
UK/EU students: £17,500
International students: £21,500
You will be required to pay a non-refundable
deposit of £1,000 on acceptance of your
place. The remainder of the tuition fees
are payable either before, or on the day
of registration, which is the frst day of
orientation week.
BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS
We have a limited number of bursaries
available for UK/EU candidates, worth up
to £4,000. These are awarded at the course
director’s discretion and are based on merit
as well as considerations of fnancial need.
If you would like to be considered for a
bursary, please indicate so in the fnancial
details section of your application.
There are also three £7,500 scholarships
available for outstanding international
candidates. To be considered for these
scholarships, you should apply by 30 April
at the latest.

for receiving applications, to secure your
place on the course and in on-campus
accommodation, we advise that you apply
as early as possible as places are limited.

Managing Proftability, Liquidity and Asset
Utilisation
This module will introduce you to the role of fnance
within an organisation and familiarise you with a
number of traditional and contemporary costing
approaches. Upon completion of the module you
will be able to identify how management decisions
impact the fnancial performance of an organisation,
appreciate the theoretical concepts that underpin
cost accounting and compare the strengths and
weaknesses of diferent costing approaches. You
will also be able to interpret company accounts and
apply fnancial tools and techniques to appraise
project, product and customer proftability.
Improving Decision Quality with Management
Science
This module will introduce you to the management
science approach by presenting a range of
techniques that are used to support management
decisions. The techniques that will be covered
range from simple graphs to deterministic and
stochastic modelling, including statistical analysis
and forecasting methods. All lectures are designed
to be interactive and the focus of the module will be
on the practical application of methods and on the
interpretation of data.
Economics for Managers
This module will introduce you to the concepts and
techniques associated with managerial economics
at both the microeconomic and macroeconomic
level. You will learn to employ economic reasoning
when making choices about the use of resources,
recognise the importance of marginal analysis
and diminishing returns in the context of business
and consumer decisions, and analyse the external
environment to understand the forces shaping the
frm's competitive environment.
Managing Operations
This module will teach you about the strategic
role of operations and how to design and manage
the operations process. It will cover the tools and
techniques of process improvement, capacity and
inventory management, quality management, and
performance management. You will learn to evaluate
the contribution of operations to the development
and implementation of successful business strategy,
to appraise the critical issues faced by diferent
operations, to select priorities for operational
performance improvement, and plan the means
to bring about that improvement.
GENERAL MANAGEMENT MODULES
Strategic Management
This module will examine the key challenges that
companies face and the range of approaches
they employ as they seek to navigate complex
environments. You will develop your ability to
make strategic decisions, improve your ability
to think strategically and apply various strategic
management tools and techniques in practice.
Managing People and Organisations
This module will introduce you to various aspects
of people and organisations. It combines key
ideas from organisational behaviour, psychology,
sociology, and human resource management in
order to provide you with a basic understanding
and fuency in recognising, understanding and
utilising what has been termed the "human factor"
in organisations. We will also consider the impact
of the external environment on organisations and
address notions of organisational change.
Managing Corporate Sustainability
Global sustainability challenges are shaping the way
businesses operate in the twenty-frst century. This
module outlines the major sustainability challenges
and explores how progressive organisations are
responding to them in terms of organisational
mind-set, leadership, value-chain, collaboration
and change management. It will give you a better
understanding of how corporate action can be best
confgured to promote responsible and sustainable
business strategies, and invite you to think about the
purpose of business.
ELECTIVES
Managing Business Technology Investments
This module will teach you how to manage
technology in order to deliver real business
benefts, and how to manage the business changes
associated with the implementation of large
technology investments. You will learn to assess
where business technology can add value to an
organisation's performance, to identify the benefts
of a business technology initiative, to develop a
business change implementation plan, and to
identify risks associated with technology-enabled
business change.
Organisational Performance: Direction,
Control and Measurement
This module will give you a thorough understanding
of what is meant by organisational performance and
introduce you to the area of control, performance
measurement and performance management. It
will encourage you to consider why organisations
measure performance and how performance is
delivered and measured. You will consider how
diferent functions with the organisation, such as
HR, fnance and marketing view organisational
performance and review the efects that control
systems can have on an organisation.
Supply Chain Management
This module will provide you with an understanding
of supply chain management concepts and
principles and illustrate how they can contribute
to achieving sustainable competitive advantage.
You will learn to apply diferent supply chain and
product design strategies and formulate ways to
improve supply chain integration to reduce loss
in value in terms of time, cost and quality. You will
also participate in an interactive and competitive
business game that will help you to apply your
learning.
Disruptive Innovation
This module presents disruptive innovation as a
key strategic competence. You will gain practical
experience of developing a disruptive innovation
through a group design exercise that will be
presented to practitioners. You will learn to identify
and apply recent, relevant theory to the study
of disruptive innovation, understand the core
theoretical aspects of disruptive innovation in
technologies, services and business models, identify
a target for disruptive innovation, and understand
the importance of a coherent value proposition.
Entrepreneurship
This module will explore the knowledge and skills
required for the management of new ventures
across the entrepreneurial life cycle. Topics include:
determinants of the success of new ventures;
managing a business start-up; due diligence on new
ventures; business planning, managing growth and
exiting; fnance and accounting for owner/managers;
venture fnance; and the role of public policy in new
venture creation. This module is a pre-requisite if you
wish to undertake a new venture internship in the
fnal part of the programme.
Mastering Project Management
This module will introduce you to the fundamentals
of project management. You will learn about the
lifecycle approach to project management, its
applications and benefts, and learn to understand
the relationship between business strategies,
portfolios, programmes and projects. The module
will cover the key theories, principles, processes,
tools and techniques underpinning project
management, and give you the opportunity to create
a plan for implementing a specifc business change
or an entrepreneurial initiative.
PRACTICAL MODULES
Management Consulting
This module will bring together your learning
and help you to apply it in practice. Working with
a real-life business problem, your team will be
required to gather relevant data, use appropriate
tools/frameworks to analyse the data, and
propose innovative, pragmatic and achievable
recommendations. A panel of experts will assess
your proposed solutions and give you feedback.
Research Methods and Statistics
This module will equip you to design, conduct and
report on your research project. You will learn to
articulate and defne management problems and
design research that will help you to make informed
management decisions.
Internship project and Thesis
The thesis will require you to undertake a major
research project in association with a three-month
internship project. You will apply your management
knowledge, skills, and analytical abilities to real-life
situations and demonstrate your ability to research
issues, critically evaluate data and information,
apply tools and techniques to solve management
problems, and write a report concisely, informatively
and persuasively.

A 1st or 2nd class UK honours degree
or equivalent bachelor’s degree; or a
professional qualifcation (e.g. CIM Diploma)

Having taken your application into
consideration, the course director may also
require you to take GMAT and achieve a
minimum score of 600.
FEES
The tuition fees for the Cranfeld MSc in
Management starting September 2015 are:
UK/EU students: £17,500
International students: £21,500
You will be required to pay a non-refundable
deposit of £1,000 on acceptance of your
place. The remainder of the tuition fees
are payable either before, or on the day
of registration, which is the frst day of
orientation week.
BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS
We have a limited number of bursaries
available for UK/EU candidates, worth up
to £4,000. These are awarded at the course
director’s discretion and are based on merit
as well as considerations of fnancial need.
If you would like to be considered for a
bursary, please indicate so in the fnancial
details section of your application.
There are also three £7,500 scholarships
available for outstanding international
candidates. To be considered for these
scholarships, you should apply by 30 April
at the latest.

The course starts on 28 September 2015.
Although we do not have a formal deadline
for receiving applications, to secure your
place on the course and in on-campus
accommodation, we advise that you apply
as early as possible as places are limited.

Once your application has been submitted,
it will be processed by our admissions team

be emailed to you within two weeks. You will
then have a further four weeks to confrm
your place and pay your deposit.
