Eligibility Criteria for UPSC IAS Exam 2014, The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination or the UPSC IAS Exam, that recruits candidates to 23 different services across the country.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC IAS Exam 2014

  1. The candidate applying for the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service must be a citizen of India.
  2. Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees and immigrants with Indian origin, need to submit a certificate of eligibility that has been issued by the Government of India, in their favor.
  3. Candidate applying for the IAS exam should be between 21 to 32 years of age.
  4. There is relaxation of the upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, physically handicapped candidates as well as ex- servicemen.
  5. The candidate must possess a degree from any of Indian universities or possess an equivalent qualification.
  6. Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination.
