DLF cup is in hands of Aus where Indians are not even able to make it to the final.I would blame a part of it on rain gods and rest on the Duckworth-lewis method. This may sound crazy but getting on to the pros and cons of the method I may sound a bit logical.
If my actuarials are correct the table of points looked something like below b4 Ind vs WI match
WI:9
Aus:7
India:2
WI sailed to final because of their win against India with bonus point by D/L method.(WI won the game not by strategy but by statistics)
Had the match been declared as a draw, the statistics could have been
WI:6
Aus:6
Ind:8
So the series would have been -"May the best man reach the final"
Is it worthwhile way of deciding the game of cricket(game of highest uncertainity till the last ball is bowled) by statistics.?I would say a blind no.Instead I would declare a draw in the absence of reserve day.
I dont see any similar rules in games like tennis, football where the match stands cancelled if it rains.why is this rule only in cricket? What is the main point in having such a rule which is proving fatal for a country?
