Domestic abuse is when one person in a relationship (whether intimate, spousal, child to parent, dating, etc.) attempts to control the other with physical or sexual violence or through emotional and mental intimidation. Physiologists have devised that certain behavior can be charted to allow victims and others to identity abusive personality traits. One tool most commonly used by counselors, advocates, and those aiding victims of abuse is the Power and Control Wheel. The wheel shows just how an abuser uses certain abuses to control his or her victim.
