Hi,
The advertisment on POLIO ABHIYAAN is necessary but it is not sufficient.we need to make hardcore marketing to make awareness about the people to know about the effects of polio and also about the polio erdication centres.

The Govt has come with some measures to administer polio drops to children on schools and public institutions. This is a very good scheme. This has shown a drop in the number of polio cases in TN.

But we need more such schemes to eradicate polio.

So marketing is necassary to make people aware about the disease. But that alone is not sufficient for eradication of the diesease.

Marketing is necessary.

But the marketing strategies need to be improved. Just because amitabh bachan said it or sachin said it, doesnt mean that it will reach to people.

Spend less on celebrities, spend more on advertising for more time slots. Do marketing research, set up camps at places which are more prone.

thanx friends-------your inputs are real encoraging and valuable---------do keep it overflowing

my point is what all corporate sector lessons be applied here and what all tools we can put in the health sector ----- so they learn to be efeective more in eradicating POLIO -------

No, more marketing is needed for Polio hatao abhiyan, coz people are really not aware, specially in rural areas, and i think we utilized movie stars and cricketers for such a noble cause as people are inspire with those persons and i suggested another thing ( no body is hurt coz this is for awareness of people) that you use person which are effected with such disease for marketing pupose.

A comitee could be formed with PPP (Public private partnership) where Govt could be a facilitator.

If you want to eradicate poverty its the responsibiliy of every individul to help the corporates and Govt towards its eradication.More important than funding, its the proper use of it.So in my opinion the following will lead to improvement in this area

Govt and corporates can identify the rural areas were people need awareness about the disease. So at the first level each employee of a company should travel to a village near to his workplace to campaign about the diease with the help of NGOs.Corporates have to take the help of NGOs to make their employees aware on the need for this intiative

Letz do a rough number crunching in this exercise:

Letz take the case of companies like Infosys, wipro and blue-chip companies like ITC,Reliance,HLL .....etc.Together I'm sure they will hold more than 2 lakh employees.More to it they have pan-india presence. An employee MUST be given one day paid leave to visit the nearby rural area to make people aware about the disease. This leave MUST be availed by an employee in an year at his convenient timing to visit the nearby rural area.Ofcourse, the employee will have NGO people and doctors accompanying them.

An employee campaining a day with the help of Govt funding will help to eradicate poverty. This will also make people aware about how the Govt funds are reaching the poor and needy.

This is will help the Govt to monitor the progress of any village easily. Moreover the Govt can also siphon the funds at the right places where it needs more attention.

Looking at the base level it will be "A Citizen a day helping to keep polio away."

deepak you have wisely analysed the matter in fact this issue raised by you i am taking in one of the conference -- on public private partnership in health missions--- real thanx to you:tea:

we have read a concept of zerobase budgeting --- why not government give the execution part of these policies to private hands and there be a joint monetring cell to analyse the performance of these programes----
