Do we need IPL ?

When we haven't recovered fully from the Satyam fiasco,it seems worse is yet to come. This time from cricket ground. When IPL's valuations are competing with the some of the well-known football clubs,it seems there is other side of the coin to it.There seems to be lot of money laundering, match fixing, embezzlement involved in IPL.So the real extravaganza is happening outside the field.Do we need such kind of entertainment fostered for illegal monetary gains?IPL should nurture new talent and should provide a level playing field for novices to share with veterans. But certainly this is not going to happen in IPL.Instead,IPL is purely becoming a gambling place.I agree that we do enjoy cricket and that too shorter form of the game but not at the cost of transparency. We don't want any form of game or entertainment which encourages betting and completely lacking transparency. We want ppl to follow business ethics. We have learnt this lesson very hard from Satyam and we don't want to forget the lesson so soon.

What we want is Indian Playing League and not Indian problematic League. Please think about this.

Yes we do.
Because people need some form of entertainment and IPL is an extravaganza of sorts to keep people glued to their TV sets.

Definitely!!!
IPL is not just a game but it is an business opportunity. it is true that it requires lot of funds but it also gives chance to support anyone.

definitely .. IPL is something much more bigger than just cricket.. its a gr8 platform for young talented players.. it shud not b closed at all/...

apart from the business and politics that are happening in IPL, it is giving life to many cricket aspirants and youngster, with out which their talent would have been restricted to districts or states.

IPL is a leading brand in the sports league heirarchy. We should be proud that our country is able to make such things even in recession. Lets allow our country to develop over other nations.

If there is a lack in transperancy, Govt agents will check it.

yeah.. it boosts the economic growth. We have learnt this lesson very hard from Satyam and we don't want to forget the lesson so soon.

well we DO need IPL , why i say this ? because its already setting up levels for india in just three years of its making , for example it can even over run EPL in like 10 years and next NBA in the next ten years more .. i see nothing but development .

I think more than us BCCI Officials need it desperately to earn more revenue..I think its killing cricket due to its overdose...it should be played in span of 2 years or the number of mathes shud be reduced...I know nothing is possible.bcz v are myopic n shor term in our approach.only time will tell...v hv gained nthng besides entertainment.our national team's dismal show at the WC is an example of it....v still can't play fast player xcept 2-3 playrs...but our pitches will remain same....our strength is spin still our spinners r hammered n batsmn lose wickets to spinners....V r apne ghar mein sher.which i think will b proved wrong once again in WC 2011.I m sorry but it will remain a truth,

IPL is a great innovation in India by ambitious Lalit Modi. Its a cricketainment which made a huge business even during the times of recession.

Yes Of course we need IPL ...... bt not men like Lalit Modi .... he may be a great organisor..... bt he shudnt hve exposed the stakeholders of Kochi team .... breaking the ethics is nt the answer to politics in a business!!!
