The main aim of reservations is to empower those who are not empowered. If we look at India or the US both have had reservations or quotas for certain communities however have these reservations really worked. If the people covered by the reservations/ quotas are really being helped then they should have already been empowered by now and therefore no longer need reservations but compete with the others in the general category and instead these benifits are then passed on to other not so fortunate communities. However atleast to my knowledge no community has ever been taken of the reservations list because they have been empowered. This in itself should be a pointer to the fact that reservations fail. Besides this Reservations are just an excuse to be a bit complacent and inefficient and still get up in life there are several examples of people who are socially and economically well placed and still get ahead in life not because of hard work but because they hold a caste certificate. In my opinion reservations have been a failure and will always be. No one ever became capable when they were given an easy part to walk on. Those who work hard become capable and get empowered.
