Its one occasion you want to share with your friends, family relatives, in any means accomodation, food and stay will, and apart from that the entertainment, the arrangement of the venue.

You gotta spend another few lakhs....when added at the end it comes to a whopping amount dats it!

Even if u wanna do a normal marriage very closely without inviting anyone, your parents wont approve it. Its a pride for them to see their beautiful daughter to get married to someone special!

So may be thats the reason we Indian spend too much on weddings

i completely agree wid u neeraj its d tym wen v share our happiness n can find all our relatives at a tym

Ofcourse ,Indians spend more than their global peers on wedding. But when you look at our global peers, marriage is an occasion for them and it happends more than once for them. But for we Indians, marriage is the most important occasion in our life.So we share our joy with our friends & relatives. So marriage must not be seen from the economic perspective. There are also some angles attached to it.

ya indians do spend alot on marriages . even though its a once in alife time event.,ppl shud not waste money hugely.

yes...kind of...some even take loans and spend....but after all its a once in a lifetime thing...wat say????

Atleast here after we must reduce the amount that is spent in marriage. This is a useless one done just for pride.

indians spend heavily during the festivals and a marriage is no lesses than a festival in which all the friends and relatives are celebrating together.
So a grand spending is expected obviously.

Add to that the current crop of filmmakers - chopras and johars etc have showcased the marriages in so magnum opulently that people are following their styles of filmy marriages.
Same is done by prime time saas bahu soaps which show marriages as no less than once in a lifestime festival ( Though the characters end up having multiple marriages in the long run :) ).

spending on marriage is depend on person to person but i don't think that any Indian can compromise on this occasion.... one day for life if you stop you pocket flow then it useless life...

We are happy to save major earnings for our life. But almost of our savings are spending for a marriage. We are ready to get loan and we allocate major of fund for marriage than education and otherthing.
