The epic journey of establishing a gurukul of management education began in 1997 when theDepartment of Management Studies (DMS)evolved out of the strategy of IIT Delhi to use technology and knowledge, to achieve social and economic goals of the country. DMS has since offered a gamut of functional specializations such as Finance, IT/ITES, Marketing, Operations, Consulting, and Strategic Management etc. creating a unique brand of techno-managers. Driving research from the forefront of Indian B-schools, what sets DMS apart and too far ahead of others is its orientation of research towards fulfilling the requirements of the industry. DMS has been a darling of recruiters who come here in a quest for able managers and return smiling to themselves having received more than they asked for, in the practically honed yet academically proficient management graduates.
DMS has gained from all the intellectual energy free flowing in a milieu of multi-dimensional academic programmes. The students here, hence, understand that as good as the close up looks, it is always the long shot which gives the view of landscape allowing one to trace that path to greatness. The path thus made has, apart from thought provoking insights by the professors, valuable advice of the guest lecturers, immense experience from the live projects, revelations of the summer internships, intangible learning from the extra-curricular activities and last but not the least, lines of ancient wisdom slithering into the mind from the yellowing pages of the priceless tomes stacked in neat rows in the famed IIT D library. The events such as the fortnightly CONFLUENCE, the annual BUILDING INDIA INC seminars and the management festival PARIVARTAN are a few crown jewels in the treasure of knowledge imparting sessions at DMS.
DMS also boasts of an impressive list of alumni who have made a habit of designing winning strategies and steering companies to glory and in spite of all the work, generous enough to come back to their alma mater and share their experiences.
