The Campus Placements 2011 are a clear testimony to DMS, IIT Delhi’s growing stature as a B School of repute and choice among recruiters. The placements of the 2009-11 batch spanned a period of 2 weeks in December. With 24% increase in the average salary of the batch, this year’s placements were undoubtedly better than ever before. This year DMS also saw greater corporate participation with a significant increase in the number of ‘Winter Internships’ and ‘Live Projects’ offered, Guest Lectures, Workshops and Conferences conducted and B-plan competitions organized. The increase in the number of companies visiting the campus, both for recruitment and industry interaction, and the increased diversity in the profiles offered are a feather in the cap of a highly satisfying placement season.

FINAL RECRUITMENT FOR BATCH OF 2009-11

Top-notch recruiters from various sectors offered coveted and niche profiles to DMS students. Profiles offered were spread across Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Pre-Sales, Sales, Marketing, General Management, Banking and Finance, IT Operations, Consulting, HR and Leadership roles. At DMS the preference of the batch is taken into account before inviting and scheduling companies for final placements and hence the placement trends differ year on year. The case was same this year too.

Pre-placement offers

Well before the placement season even began, an impressive 18% of the batch had managed PPOs from top-notch companies in dream profiles. It’s famously said that well begun is half done, and in keeping with the tradition of DMS, we actually began well!

Banking and Finance

The gamut of profiles offered in this sector attracted a significant proportion of the students. Investment Banking, Treasury, Mergers & Acquisitions, Risk Management and Project Finance profiles were offered by companies of national and international repute. While GE offered its Global Financial Management Leadership profile, American Express and Nomura reaffirmed their faith in DMS with substantial intakes. PTC India Ltd., SBI and SKS Microfinance were also among those who offered finance profiles while Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra and ICICI Bank had PPIs on offer for diverse banking profiles.

Consulting and IT

Consulting emerged as the most preferred sector with nearly one-fourth of the batch choosing to make a career in this domain. A host of new recruiters along with our existing recruiters offered some of the most coveted profiles. Diverse roles in Supply Chain Consulting, IT, Technology Consulting and Risk Advisory were on offer. Some of the companies from this domain that recruited from the campus are Deloitte, KPMG, Accenture to name a few. Wipro and Infosys also chose to make a significant number of offers in this domain.

General Management and HR

Like in the past, this year too General Management and Leadership roles were offered by companies across various industry verticals. GE offered its most sought after IMLP profile. Welspun recruited in the campus for the first time offering diverse roles across different businesses. General Management and HR roles were also offered by PSUs. BHEL and Cognizant also had general management and HR roles on offer for DMS.

Operations

Continuing with the tradition this year’s placements saw a slew of profiles being offered by globally renowned corporations. Profiles offered included Manufacturing, Plant Management, Supply Chain Management and Quality Management.

While BASF recruited from DMS for the first time ever for its highly coveted Global Supply Chain Management profile, P&G reaffirmed its faith in DMS by making the highest number of job offers in this vertical. Mitsui, Titan and DSCL were among the other renowned names to have made offers in the Operations vertical.

Sales & Marketing

Niche roles in Pre-Sales, Sales & Marketing and New Product Development were on offer from some of the top global and Indian brands. Panasonic and Tata Motors offered Sales & Marketing roles while Idea Cellular and Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. offered coveted profiles.

NOTE:

The placements for the batch of 2009-11 only confirmed the ever growing strength of brand DMS. Like every year, students are leaving the campus with an extremely bright and promising future to look forward to. The companies were, as always, highly satisfied with the quality of students at DMS. As has been said, many reputed companies have started taking a very active interest in the institute assuring the students here of steadily growing opportunities.
