Disney Unveils Star Wars Rebels

May the fourth be with you is a pun often uttered during the unofficial holiday fans have dubbed as Star Wars Day, but loyal fans of the epic space saga were treated to a nice surprise on their day of celebration.

Disney XD unveiled a trailer to the anticipated animated series Star Wars Rebels on Sunday. The exciting minute-long teaser features several action-packed scenes from the upcoming programmers set to music including The Imperial March theme for iconic baddie Darth Vader.

The animated show is set in between the film’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, with the timetable spanning approximately two decades. It takes place 'in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. It is set to premiere in a one-hour special on the Disney Channel sometime in the fall before the series will shift to sister channel Disney XD. A voice-over during the spot says: In a time of darkness, when fear ruled the galaxy, heroes will rise, destinies will collide and a rebellion will ignite. The trailer has flashes of the main characters and ends with a final scene which includes the villain Inquisitor. The series will follow the crew of the starship Ghost comprised of rebels and their struggle against the Galactic Empire. On Tuesday Disney and Lucas film confirmed on the official Star Wars website that Girls star Adam Driver would take a part in the relaunched film as well as newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow were also listed as cast members. It was also confirmed that stars of the original trilogy - Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker would also be in the film, which will be directed by JJ Abrams and released in 2015.
