There's been a bit of talk of a lack of deep discussions on here... so I'll throw in my contribution. Discuss or feel my wrath.
Are you a nice person?
Simple question, isn't it? Or is it?
Most people off-the-cuff will throw out a "Yes, I think so". But think about it a little longer. Are you a nice person? What constitutes a "nice" person?
Of course people are complex and it's difficult to come out with any black and white answer.
Take myself for example. I don't think I'm a bad person, but I don't consider myself "nice" for most of the time. If I see someone fall in the street and hurt themselves I will run over and help them while other people just stare. However, if I see you trip and no harm is done, I will probably point and laugh.
It has occurred to me more than once since the merging that I might not be "nice" enough for this board. Usually at least once a visit I restrain myself from being "not nice". Not that I feel any malice toward anyone, of course not... we are all but words on a screen. Just sometimes I have to remind myself to be polite and welcoming to people, rather than dismissive or to poke fun.
