Daario Naharis-Is The Casting Proper?

Daario Naharis-Is The Casting Proper?

The good news: Game of Thrones fans were never happy with British actor Ed Skrein in the role of Daario Naharis, and so in season four, he’s been replaced.

The bad news: He still doesn’t have blue hair.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s description of the sword-swinging heartthrob who insists on winning Daenerys Targaryen’s affections, Naharis is supposed to have a mane of long blue hair, a blue beard twisted into three parts, blue fingernails and a gold tooth.Instead, the long-awaited arrival of Naharis introduced fans to the chiseled British actor Ed Skrein. Sure, he was handsome, in a barbaric sort of Schwarzenegger way. But there was nothing so exceptional about him that could warrant the Mother of Dragons’ affections.

When season four premieres, Michiel Huisman appears in the role instead. Sadly, Huisman is even more ordinary-looking than Skrein. On Nashville, Huisman played a potential love interest for Connie Britton. And he still has that country star hair and seductive gaze that don’t really fit in Westeros.

Game of Thrones season 4 is still more thrilling than season 3. Everybody is in risk and Daenerys Targaryen is decided to conquest her throne. She is no longer the innocent teenager who married Khal Drogo or a suffering widow. Her dragons have grown up and she is a mature woman, brave and strong, who needs a serious couple, able to give his life for her. Skrein left Game of Thrones to star in the reboot of the Transporter franchise, replacing Jason Staham in the process. It’s hard to believe that someone would leave Game of Thrones for a movie like Transporter, but you can’t fault Skrein for cashing in his movie career ticket before it expires.

As for Huisman, he’ll be playing the new version of Daario for the time being, or until he decides to reboot some other B-movie action franchise and leave behind the most successful and popular show on television.
