Achievements
Today, CIL is India’s leading manufacturer of diesel engines. Its products include engines in the range of 60 HP to 2700 HP. It manufactures over 70,000 engines and generator sets each year and is amongst India’s largest exporter of engineering products. CIL offers the complete range of Cummins worldwide products. Where indigenous production is not available, CIL is able to draw from one of the Cummins entities around the globe. Biomass gasification technologies have been available for the past three decades; making them commercially feasible was a challenge Cummins along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) took on. This resulted in Cummins launching a new range of generator sets in 2006 and 2007 designed to work on gassifiers based on the IISc platform. These gensets are available in capacities between 25 kWe and 240 kWe and in multiples thereof for 1.5 MW power plants. In recognising the uniqueness and adaptability of this invention, the CII honoured it with the National Innovative Energy Saving Product award in 2007. In the same year, the company’s Power Generation Business Unit was conferred the Corporate Brand and Reputation award by Frost & Sullivan’s India Genset Industry Excellence – Voice of Customer. Cummins India was also declared a winner in four other categories: Customer Service Leadership, Most Preferred Brand in the Manufacturing/Process industry segment (> 250 kVA), Most preferred Brand in the IT/Realty/Hospitality segment as also the Most Preferred Brand in the Construction and Infrastructure segment.
