How many of you have been on a bus? I have frequently travelled by this medium and the thing that exited me the most is the “Window”-seat. I used to fight with my sister every time we travelled for a window berth. Sometimes I won and on the others I lost out to her –with eventual intervention of my father. The bliss of watching people, monuments , cars , bikes , etc –pass by you , waving at them (I was a kid! ) and the delight when they waved back ; was wonderful . However they soon; either left the bus behind or were overtaken by it.[/b]

It is only common that you cannot view an object or a person thoroughly, unless you are at an appropriate distance from them. The larger the subject in question; the farther away you do need to be. When something is very close to you; it goes to your blind spot and you start missing the small details on a regular basis. Taking for granted- that it will be by you for the days to come. Isn’t it true?[/b]
[/b]
We are here to discuss about loss. This loss can amount to anything – a romantic relationship, a friendship, being laid off at work, or losing your hard earned property to some calamity. All these may befall you at any point of time in your life; without prior notice. [/b]

What we dread, is not the part where we lose something – but the immediate period of time that follows. In this state the situation weighs down on you. You start losing your identity to the situation. People start viewing you from the situational angle. You cease to be yourself in their eyes. Anger, resentment and some self-suppressive measures follow; which make you more unpleasant than ever. [/b]
[/b]
It is not like we go into the cave all the time; eventually we come to terms with the fact. But the situational-tag still follows us in this “Phasing out”-stage. Now you begin to express your anger more to the people to whom you are nothing more than a chai-time topic to discuss and feel sorry for. [/b]
[/b]
Let us say you fall and hurt yourself. There is nothing you can do while you see your blood oozing out- except put a dressing or band-aid on it and wait for it to heal. Most kinds of losses are like these small wounds we keep getting while playing soccer or scratches from sharp objects everywhere. They are healed after a day or two ; without any visible mark to show that they were once inflicted upon you.[/b]
[/b]
On the other hand we have Diabetes and Renal disorders. These require constant medication-in form of insulin-tablets/injections or routine Dialysis. These are different from wounds. They merge with out very self and are engraved on the canvas of our life in deep-dark colors. Any amount of plastering white ,can’t make them go away. We should strive to make a portrait around them , rather than leaving them out . Because if we do leave them out ; they will stand out more and those chai-time gossipers will have more chai and biscuits – only the Tea-stall owner will be rejoicing.[/b]
