Finance Confluence 2011

Panel discussions on:
Topic 1: AA+: A Passing Perception Or A Failing Grade?
The recent storm generated by Standard & Poor’s downgrading the US Treasury from its quintessential AAA rating to a marginally lower AA+ is being lauded, accepted and mocked. The rating may have political undertones but the revision of its key economic calculations only add doubt. What does this mean for other countries, companies and investors? At ‘Confluence 2011’, we hope to have a fruitful discussion on the merits and demerits of Credit Rating Agencies, as well as implications of the downgrading on the Indian economy.
Topic 2: NBFCs – Reshaping the Indian Financial Sector

A contemporary alternative to traditional banking, Non Banking Financial Companies represent a dynamic, less-conservative approach towards the business of loans and securities. A comparatively informal collection mechanism gives such institutions a firm leverage over commercial banks. But does that make these non-banking corporations bankable enough? Is it the answer to the customer’s need for hassle-free, readily available finance? At ‘Confluence 2011’, we hope to have a fruitful discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of NBFCs, and their prospects towards the Indian Financial sector.

Panel Discussions on :

Topic 1: The Demise of Lifetime Employment
Permanent employees working for a single employer during the entirety of their professional careers have long formed the cornerstone of success for many economies. Such relationships are now eroding, and these employees are fast becoming a rare species. The current practice of employment might as well be termed ‘Just in Time Employment’. Similarly, when a term longer than 3-5 yrs with the same employer is seen as ‘lack of employability’, the concept of company loyalty all but seems a history lesson. At ‘Confluence 2011’, we hope to have a fruitful discussion on this Human Resource challenge, and evaluate what the present and the future hold for Lifetime Employment.
Topic 2: Challenges of Multi-Generational and Multi-Cultural Workforce Integration
The communication-revolution has led people from diverse demographics of age, sex, ethnicity, physical ability and race to be brought together at the workplace. A distinct flavor of diversity reflects from the organization where the workforce is multi-cultural and multi-generational in the true sense. While innate differences always make conflict inevitable, the justness and neutrality of the resolution protocols is what ultimately matters. At ‘Confluence 2011’, we hope to have a fruitful discussion on why and how must a common ground be paved for the modern organization’s multi-generational and multi-cultural workforce.
