Competing with Integrity

Description
Presentation describes about What is competing with integrity; some considerations; relation with ethics; Eternal Objectives of Life; Purushthas; Duryodhana Syndrome

?

Acting with integrity is the same as acting ethically or morally. The stress of competition provides the major impetus for acting unethically. It also pushes one to violate the norms that prevail under ordinary conditions.

?

?

?

In one sense, “competing with integrity” means competing against others in a way consistent with one?s highest values.
In the other sense, it captures the tension between integrity and competition.

?

?

Acting with integrity extends beyond satisfying the bare legal minimum. It is acting in accordance with moral norms willingly, knowingly and purposefully.
It often requires courage and willingness to sacrifice.

?

?

?

Ethical norms emerge from self-discovery. There are remarkable similarities in these norms across cultures. Business need not be defensive and apologetic about ethics. Pursuit of profit affects people all around in a variety of ways.

?

?

?

?

Adverse consequences of business will affect itself sooner or later. Everyone has a responsibility and accountability for ethics. At the same time, it does not waive the collective/leadership responsibilities.

?

?

?

Ethics relates to action and not of theoretical hair-splitting. „Optimism? should be the pervading attitude. The golden rule is: there are no golden rules.

?

?

Summum bonum of ethical education is experience and sensitization.

Moral action does not guarantee that a company will succeed. But, no company can succeed for long if it acts unethically or ignores moral considerations. In this sense, competing with integrity and be successful in business are by no means contradictory.

“I lift my hands and I shout, But no one listens. From dharma comes wealth and pleasure Why is dharma not practised?” -Vyasa.

“Janami dharmam na cha me pravrittihi Janami adharmam na cha me nivrittihi” I know what is dharma, but could not practice it; I know what is adharma, but could not get out of it.

To conclude…

„What is right is right even if no one is doing it. What is wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.? (Unknown Source)
