New Delhi: Contradicting the Greenpeace report, Coal India Ltd (CIL) ensures that its reserves won’t be depleted in another 17 years. Disclosing the information the CIL Chairman Narsing Rao said, “CIL will be raising its target to 25 billion tonne in the next three years.”
Reasoning the targeted index, the CIL Chairman informed that the entity has been adding more than 2.2 billion tonne of coal reserve since 2011 and expects the reserves to touch 25 billion tonne in three years.
Greenpeace on Monday had projected CIL’s extractable coal reserves at 18.2 billion tonne and forecasted the reserves to completely perish in 17 years.
Commenting on the extractable reserve figure disclosed to stock exchange Rao said, “We didn’t consider it to be major development and hence was not reported to stock exchange.”
