The second day of Chaos 2015, the annual cultural festival of IIM Ahmedabad being held from January 23-26, 2015, was filled with glamour, art, music and literature. A number of workshops were held - charcoal drawing, spray painting and film-making, which saw enthusiastic students trying out their hands at new art forms. The art competitions - Brush of a Poet and Collage - saw more creativity bloom as participants let their thoughts flow out on the canvas to produce arresting creations.
Two of the most anticipated events of the fest, the street play and the street dance, saw crowds thronging to watch the riveting performances put up by student groups from colleges across the country. The Schmitten Treasure Hunt saw participants racking their brains to unravel a maze of puzzles and cryptic hints that allowed them to explore all nooks and corners of the sprawling campus to reach the final jackpot.
The General Quiz and the IIMA Open Quiz saw some of the top quizzers from colleges across India battle it out for the title of the best brains. A team from IIMA emerged victorious at the Open Quiz, which covered a range of topics, with goodies galore for the audiences. The inaugural edition of the IIMA Annual National Debate, saw teams from across the country debate a gamut of issues, ranging from the value of formal education versus vocational training to the importance of free speech. Potpourri, a melange of fun word games, dumb charades and pictionary, ended the day’s set of literary of events at Chaos.
A speaker session with Vikas Swarup, author of Q&A, which was adapted into the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, saw the author open up about his life after the movie’s success. He talked about the differences between the book and the movie, and praised Dev Patel and Freida Pinto for doing a good job bringing his characters to life. He also spoke about his new book, The Accidental Apprentice, and gave insights into his writing process and how he made the transition from being a diplomat to being a writer.
The day ended with a fashion parade, where students set the ramp on fire with innovative creations on a variety of themes. It was followed by a performance by DJ Nyk which had the audience tapping their feet to his energetic tunes.
