Chaos 2015, the annual cultural festival of IIM Ahmedabad got off to a scintillating start with hundreds of enthusiastic participants descending onto the IIM Ahmedabad campus. The campus has been abuzz with activity for the last few days with students from within and outside gearing up for an excitement filled weekend of activities, competitions, workshops, guest lectures and special performances.
The 18th edition of the most anticipated cultural festival in Ahmedabad, Chaos 2015 has evolved into a youth conclave; a forum for an intermingling of ideas and thought. The Mission Director of the Mahatma Gandhi Swachhata Mission and the President of the Indian Newspaper Society threw the fest open at the inaugural ceremony.
Madhur Bhandarkar, the national award winning director and the creator of many path-breaking movies in Bollywood spoke to the crowds gathered at the RJM auditorium about film making and creativity in contemporary India.
The origami workshop saw an enthusiastic response from the participants as they marvelled at the potential of a single sheet of folded paper. The mess circle at IIM was lined with artistic designs of rangoli leaving spectators amazed as they saw students etching their creativity through colour. The Doodle making competition saw this unconventional art form leave the constraints of the notebook and lecture halls as participants unleashed their creativity through their doodles.
Several events lined the schedule on the first day with many informal events that encouraged students attending from across the nation to participate in unconventional events like the paper dressing competition. The SPLASH quiz (Sports, Literature, Arts and History) conducted by Navin Rajaram had audiences guessing at near-missed answers as the quiz master enthralled them with questions and trivia that had them grasping at that "ah-ha!" of realization.
The dance events conducted at the famous Louis Kahn Plaza had colleges put their best foot forward entertaining the crowd.
The performances by the Afghan Artists had the crowds swooning as music spread across the lawns of IIM Ahmedabad. Dorm 5 basement, IIMA's band gave a cracker of a performance and had the crowds cheering for more. The day ended with a stellar performance from Paradigm Shift, one of the biggest Hindi progressive rock bands.
As the day ended, the visitors at IIM Ahmedabad were left looking forward to the next three days of entertainment.
