IIM Indore's premier consulting event Chanakya held as part of the annual business festival – ãhvãn, is inspired in its conception by the revered epitome of intellect, Chanakya. As the chief advisor to Chandragupta, he masterminded the Mauryan dynasty’s ascent to power. As an academician, he wrote treaties on economics and political science that find application even today. Chanakya was widely acclaimed for his intellectual acumen, tactical nous, and mastery over strategy - the three qualities that this event stands for.
Chanakya 2012 is open to all full-time MBA students. Throughout the course of the event, participants apply their skills of diagnosis, analytical thinking and problem solving as they work on real life challenges confounding business firms. They are at their persuasive best, defending their recommendations in front of an eminent panel drawn from the industry and academia in their bid to emerge as the modern day Chanakyas.
The event is conducted in three stages. Participants will be required to register in teams of max 3 members. The first stage commenced on 22nd of September. The first round will have a small pool of caselets spanning industries and functions from which participating teams are required to select and attempt any two. The teams which successfully cracked the first round were announced on 10th October. The teams which clear the first round will get an opportunity to work on an actual business challenge being faced by Cognizant Business Consulting (CBC). With an objective of simulating a live consulting engagement, this round would require the qualifying teams to work on an open ended case from CBC. The top 5 teams making it to the final round will present their solutions to an eminent panel from Cognizant at IIM Indore during ãhvãn. The top 2 teams of the event stand to win INR 100,000/- and INR 50,000/- respectively in addition to goodies.
The event so far has seen overwhelming response from all top business schools of India. Teams from IIFT, IIM A, IIM B and many others have made it to the second round of the event successfully. Chanakya 2012 is all set to be a blockbuster once again with all the excitement building up.
