Manuscripts are invited for a special issue of the Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing (JTTM) “Revenue management
in tourism and hospitality industry”. This special issue of JTTM seeks out interdisciplinary studies that provide insights
for both academics and industry practitioners into the theory, application, implication and impact of revenue management
in the hospitality and tourism industry. It aims to create a knowledge sharing platform to disseminate research findings
and to advance the understanding of revenue management from a marketing perspective.

Special issue objectives:

The purpose of this special issue is to publish findings and exchange knowledge on recent developments and emerging
trends in revenue management.
Revenue management methods and systems have been used by hospitality and tourism companies for the past 30 years,
and they are often recognized as crucial for hotel operations’ processes and best practices. While these practices are well
established, adopted by nearly all of the major hotel-chains and by a growing number of independents, many issues and
challenges are yet to be addressed.
A first JTTM Special Issue on revenue management was published in 2004. The objective of this sequel, ten years later,
is twofold:

- offer a retrospective on 30 years of development of revenue management concepts and methods. Papers in this category
might focus on topics such as the development of revenue management in a specific sector, the evolution of revenue
management models and methods, as well as epistemological positions.

- highlight the emergence of new trends. For example, papers in this category might explore topics such as the adoption
of revenue management practices by new sectors, the increasing sphere of revenue management impact in existing
sectors (e.g., the move towards Global/Total revenue management), the relations with costs, distribution channels,
consumer behaviour, technology and other factors, etc.
