Can we afford auto rickshaw now a days

As the meter rate has increased to minimum price of 11rs and after every 1km it increase by 1.50rs. As we say trains are lifeline of Mumbai similarly auto rickshaw are the important part of Mumbai

But now it is difficult to travel in rickshaw as it is not affordable to any group of people even the rates of taxi are affordable

One trend among all the taxiwallahs/autorishaws is that they increase the fare when the fuel price increases bt they dunt decrease(even a tad) when the fuel price decreases.So the rates will go on an upward curve.Moreover, most of the autos are not adhering to meter rules.Even if the have the meters on,the meter will be manipulated.So ultimately, auto rates are increasing faster than inflation rates and whenever there is a fuel hike the rates will set a new benchmark.Even some of the concepts like Prepaid autos dint hit.

We have to live with it.

Home loan rate increase is lower than auto rate increases.

Its true that hiked price by taxi and autorickshaw doesnt come down when fuel price decrease. This attitude should be changed by the autodrivers.
 
Since the bandh was called by rickshaw union, the question arises who negotiated the demand from the people side, was it the government? tomorrow they may ask for another rise, who will negotiate.... If we see the earning of rickshawala it is huge.. For e.g. An autorickshaw gives an average of 20 KM per KG of CNG.... CNG cost 36 rs per kg.. that means the earn 36*20 = 720 rs per kg of CNG... So you can calculate the amount of profits they earn....

nice topic... well i must say that if fuel price increase by govt then they can also increase rates after they have to earn their bread n butter but it is not good when they touch meter as actual should show it really hurt....

or more worst condition when you ask any rickshawala they start fighting and gather in union....

for this govt should do some thing to help consumers
 
In most of the cities meters are not used.. the auto drivers charge as much as they want.. this is highly inconvenient.. esp if ur new to the city .

Autorickshaws are affordable as long as the meters are working fine and the guy is not asking for extra money. In bangalore, whereever you go , on the meter fare you have shell out atleast Rs 20 extra otherwise the guy will not ferry you...thats the situation in Bangalore.
 
Rick guys have their monopoly in Delhi. They don't got by meters. They ask for any amount. So these days its really getting difficult to afford.
