There are lot of shops coming-up in the malls. Are the shops really getting profitted from it?Mostly, malls are like weekend stress buster.People used to roam and they do window shopping. The ubiquitious thing will be a coke or an icecream. The shops have to pay hefty sum for getting a space in malls.

So do you think malls can boost the sale of shops.

it largely depends on the mall buddy.as in, the location, the shops etc.its not for nothing that mall mania has hit a new high.and to many people, visiting a mall is a lot more than juz a weekend stress buster.lakhs and lakhs of ppl hit the FORUM mall in bangalore every weekend.and the shops make real money.the mall or any shopping dsetination must inspire impulse buying .it shud have that buzz...

shops in theme / specialised malls are likely to do well.

The ambience, the no. of footfalls and the walkin's mind
being already prepared to recive the product pitch
would increase sales.

In today's fast paced world where the consumer does not get so much time to visit 10 different places for shopping, malls provide an opportunity to such consumers to go and do all the shopping under a common roof. Moreover it also provides a newer and more comfortable shopping experience to the new-age consumers. Therefore consumers prefer to go to such malls rather than visiting local nmarkets which helps the shopkeepers to attract consumers 2wards their shops.
Consumers would come to their shops but its upto shopkeepers to convert the potential customer to regular customer through tactics like impulse selling, more innovative merchandising solutions, etc.

Time is a Constrain today and Mall provides most of the needful stuffs at the same place. Today malls include everything From Grocieries to Playstation to Music Albums and it works like a Day out. One can Watch movies in most of the Malls shop around and also get most of the branded products under on roof.Cost today is not a Constrain to the Upper Middleclass and the Higher class, however the upper middle class and the middle class contributes to a major propotion of our socity and they do buy their basic Products from the store. The mall have made the shops understand the importance of being competative and even help them to maintain the competative price provided its near the Mall.

i think that malls have actually become a form of entertainment for the general indian public...as much as we indians deny it, we love to go to air conditioned malls, hang out, look around, window shop & breeze out of these malls without spending even a rupee...this is from the consumers point of view...honestly speaking, it is good news that the retail industry will be regulated by these malls which will replace unregulated markets...

yea i agree to it malls have provided us with a lot of help like shopin under one roof , it has also given rise to competion n also ppl r offerd more variety of branded colthes but this is also true that most of the time ppl go to the mallz n dont even spend any money on shoping
n all the points give above by my fellow mates r on the retails shop wat about the food stall that r there they make a lot of profit ,ppl may not by clothes or shoes but will surely eat something

It is very difficult for the new entrant shops to make profit in malls as in order to make profit they have to raise the price of their product in order to pay rent and royalities to the mall. The increased price would invite less customers and as said above that mall will only be a place for people to enjoy without spending a rupee.

Malls serve the dual purpose of the weekend family outing and purchasing the household items for the whole week from one place.. people tend to buy more when shopping from a mall. so on an average they are setting a new trend and with the entry of the major players. .we can say that it is the start of the new era of shopping.

nowadays malls r grt place for weekend getaways... i stay next 2 a mall n i know how crazy ppl r 2 spend time @ a mall making it soooo crowded.. its true they come to spend time but in da process they end up spending a lot of money 2 at least on food stuffs/goodies /rides etc
so v cannot rule out that shops dont earn business but not like the departmental stores obviously..like pyramids/shopers stop etc

Well an easy answer to this question would be a "NO". But i add that it does vary from place to place and of the kind of lifestyle of the people in that region. For eg:- in a place like dubai,as you all would be aware is again a land full of shopping malls. And each time you visit these malls you might be thinking to yourselves well why the hell is this place all crowded. You can of course get to see the people shopping (particularly the arabs and foreigners) in these malls. And this situation prevails all 365 days in a year and goes on and on.But your question here even had made me wonder previously whether all these shops would survive within these malls and surprisingly i have found all these shops still do exist and perhaps in even more better facility than they used to have previously. This again brings forth the question "how?". And i guess we would have to begin a new thread pointing out our findings on this.RIGHT?!!

malls are major hangout point, people jus lik 2 while away their time by visting a mall. moreover its an entertainment spot... mall is place where u jus name anything and one would get it under one roof. now-a-days people would prefer to shop in a mall rather than any retail outlet as they are more brand concious.. people do spend their money on buying foodstuff or clothes or they just go crazy playing games in the mall...

mall culture is not good for our country as it will led to unemployment amongst the thousands of retail vendors. it will in the initial stage attract the peoples and in the long run malls will be treated as picnic spot.

GOOD GOING ..........KEEP COMING...........

FRoM MY SIDE....it can be both good or bad ...good at consumer point of view if we see from there side.....bad if you see from vendor`s side .....have to find mid way
