Can India ever beat China?

In an interview a professor said that the economic power will shift from western countries to Asia & China and India would emerge as a major economic power.


In 15 years more or less India will become what China is today and will make us the 4th or even the 3rd largest economy in the World....

All predictions nothing statistical and nothing quantitative...will this forecast be a reality in true sense or will it remain a dream of all Indians to be worlds No. 1..

yes India do have a chance of beating china,because INDIA has major industries like power,tele-communication and banking still under governments control which gives it a better oppurtunity than china who have 50% of there loans in NPA compared to INDIA's 4.03%.Though CHINA has more reserves than INDIA still it is lagging behind INDIA in food production.
 
Though we have the control we still misuse it. For Ex see the corruption in CWG. Corruption at ever level of the organizing the game. I too want India to become No.1
 
Difficult. We still think of China as the old rural country that it used to be. Now, the amount of construction alone in China is massive. They know their priorities. Our only strength, "English speaking" , is not such a big one. China will sure master this language too in less than 5 years.
 
yupp...India has already overtaken China in export segment particularly Dubai where china was leading few years back...so in coming years India would definitely surpass China.
 
agree with sudesh....India has huge demographic advantage as compared to china...which may reel under it's one child policy
 
We can definitely beat China, provided we think ahead of what china is thinking.I believe china has some major plans to doom Indian Economy
 
I think not until the end of next decade and after that if we all work together form strategies and policies to counter china's moves
 
Oh yes, if we can get away with our politicians, and get going with the millitary rule for atleast 4 years, we may do something !!
 
No India can never surpass china !!! China is a giant, it has greater resources, good technology !!!

china exports massively and thus has a low cost advantage- scales of production..whereas if we talk about india, its all corruption that comes into our minds- the major hinder in its path to success....
 
The reasons to beat china could be..
1) Population... India is experiencing explosive population growth which will overtake china as the world's largest population.


2) Industry.. India is a rising power in software,desgin ans services industry. There is no other IT sector in the world that can compare India.

3) Educational System ... Every year India and China produce over 600 thousand engineers who graduate with high degrees. Out of the same, a better part of them are Indian graduates. Currently, India is 2nd largest producers of Engineers, Scientist and doctors.

So, in terms of education,industry and population it can beat china..
 
China is presently at far better position compared to India, with growth rate of 8%, labor force of 800 mn and per capita iGDP of $6100, China is at far better position. India is lagging far behind China.We are still using the old age technology while china is far ahead in the agriculture sector. The pace of infrastructure development is also quite high so it is difficult in the near future to cross China in economy.
