Most leadership experts argue that the best way to manage change is to create alignment. Large-scale change or innovation initiatives, a healthy dose of dissent is usually important, within an acceptable range of competition and tension, science shows that dissent will fire up more of an individual's brain, stimulating more pathways and engaging more creative centers. In short, more of what makes people unique, innovative, and passionate is available for use.
A peaceful, harmonious workplace can be the worst possible thing for a business. Complacency, in fact, is the single greatest predictor of poor company performance.
As per my point of view, fighting means there is a struggle for survival and we have a team of individuals who have ideas and opinions, and have the gumption to back their own ideas and opinions. The conviction that one is doing good for the organization and can be better than the other in the organization, it is a subtle under current situation that any good or progressive organization would have and there is proof that this has helped organizations.
The problem is that many organizations tend to follow such ideas in a blind manner, without getting into detail. It is critical that only the senior and middle management have such differences or creativity. The bottom of the hierarchy who are the implementers need to pull in one direction and not to be exposed to these differences.
The owners or stake holders or top brass, should be able to harness the creativity and contrasting ideas and ensure the situation does not get out of control. They should blend the right balance and act as true leaders.
