Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) is a relatively new technology 2003-04. JDAM is attached to the tail of the missile to change it from a conventional weapon to a GPS (Global positioning System) guided smart bomb.
The guidance system relies on the tail that contains a GPS system , guiding it after the release by 3-D coordinates. The fins of the tail are dynamic and aid in altering the trajectory of the Missile to a certain extent. In all this process the Bomber-craft serves like an antennae; transmitting the information from Army Base to the Missile.
Are you wondering why I am talking about missiles on a Management forum? Does it have any significance ?
It does actually. The point I want to address is- that over the years, man has learnt significant much; from warfare, but have we applied it for the betterment of the society? What will be the fate of all that intellectual inheritance, when our future generations end up not needing it?
As a matter of fact; we can learn a lot from our own inventions. If we take this missile for instance, it has this aforementioned homing device that mends its path once the missile strays from its pre-directed path. But is the GPS of any use if the missile is stationary? The GPS can only be functional if the Missile is on the course to its destination.
Similarly in our professional life/career; we should have a target in mind , so that like the missile we can be launched into the stratosphere , just standing still and floating ideas won’t do us any good as :

While we are soaring high after giving wings to our idea ; various unforeseen parameters will hinder our progress. It is only natural as even Newton paid homage to the nature’s tendency to resist your initial efforts. (INERTIA)
Once your mind i.e the ARMY BASE recognizes the error it can always render the services of the GPS , in our case our colleagues , superiors and mentors. This will put us back on track. The missile self-destructs once it reaches its target but you will in contrast, be well aware of your bases.
The antennae from the Bomber plane; is analogous to your interaction with everybody from your team to your organization as a whole. You will be synchronized with the frequencies transmitted through it. A Hub of sorts; diversifying through spokes in all possible directions.
