So you go to google, you want to have a pizza from either Pizza Hut or Domino's, you type in one of the name and hit search, you go to the website and order online or just pick the number dial and order on the phone.
Your behavior & habits were being observed by the websites you visited! A user's navigation history is often stored and analyzed by websites to make targeted offers next time. The website may place that information in a cookie which gets saved in your hard disk & when you revisit the website it is sent to the web server!
Websites target different customers in different ways based on their habits & behavior - some of the parameters are - Operating system, Time spent on the website, no of visits, City, Browser that he uses etc!
