BBI EXPERIENCE- CAROLIN CHRISTIAN (JAI HIND)

Bachelor of banking and insurance….even I was clueless when I took up this course initially. However after being reassured by several industry professionals that the subjects covered by the course were helpful, I took the plunge. I comforted myself that a specialised degree would give me an edge over a normal B.Com and three years later I am glad I took this decision.
Three years in banking and insurance have not only helped me gain an all-round knowledge of the working of banks and insurance companies but subjects like organisational behaviour, effective communication, customer relationship management and the like gave us an insight into areas that are essential for surviving in the corporate world today.
The most helpful of all were the projects and presentations that were expected of us. They encouraged team work, creativity, meeting deadlines and in the long run helped us achieve good presentation and public speaking skills and a healthy amount of confidence. Not forgetting the industrial visits, they too help one understand the way companies function, so that is learning with fun.
If placement is the parameter of measuring the worth of a course, then a BBI will prove to be valuable even if one is not keen on pursuing further education. Most of my classmates have landed jobs with renowned companies and command good profiles which a normal B.Com graduate can only envy. As for those like me interested in further education, a bachelor in banking and insurance will prove to be beneficial in case of most post graduate courses.
Thus, BBI with its semester system is a more interesting and practical course if one desires a career in the financial field.
