Here is another classic forum question ....
I recently went to an MBA fair in London and found that almost 60%-70% of people came with an IT background and asked how can they differentiate their application! Most came(as many good techies do) with strong GMAT scores or least of their worries was the GMAT ....below are some insights as I thought about this harder :
1. Talk about your school . Some institutes(besides IITs of course!) are well recognised i.e. the REC's or Engineering Schools from well known universities
2. Talk about how whilst you were doing Engineering , global business and management practices inspired you and what you did about it (may not apply to all if you did not really care but are now interested in MBA!). For e.g. taking specific courses etc
3. Talk about why your engineering experience gives you an edge (in your own unique way) over others referring to the FACULTY and the nature of the program and finally,
4. Articulate very clearly if your post MBA path converges with an aspiration to work in global engineering firms.
there are a host of other aspects which you can bring out and your background to your advantage and use it as a solid base to start creating your MBA application .
