Asian Markets Update by Epic Research

Asian markets were trading higher. Monetary policy decisions are due in Australia and India later Tuesday. While no change is expected from either central bank, the governors’ statements will be closely watched for attempts to talk down strength in their respective currencies.

China’s Shanghai Composite added 0.36 percent or 7.40 points at 2,046.61. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.25 percent or 58.56 points at 23,140.21.

Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.80 percent or 119.28 points at 15,055.20. Singapore’s Straits Times was flat at 3,299.22.

South Korea’s Seoul Composite was flat at 2,002.75. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was up 0.24 percent or 21.80 points at 9,097.71.
 
Asian equities were mixed on Wednesday following robust growth data from Australia and as hopes grow for stimulus measures from the European Central Bank this week.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 0.45 percent or 9.16 points at 2,029.14. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.52 percent or 121.41 points at 23,169.63.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei was flat at 15,028.97. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times declined 0.32 percent or 10.49 points at 3,286.18.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 9,120.30.

Seoul Composite shut today.
 
Asian equity markets were mixed on Thursday as traders braced for a highly-anticipated European Central Bank meeting.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 2.7 points to 2,022.21. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng declined 38 points to 23,113.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei was up 0.11 percent or 16.14 points at 15,084.10. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was flat at 3,280.49.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was down 0.64 percent or 12.78 points at 1,995.78. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 9,115.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 0.14 percent or 2.76 points at 2,038.12.
Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng rose 0.24 percent or 54.60 points at 23,164.26.
Japan%u2019s Nikkei shed 0.13 percent or 20.04 points at 15,059.33.
Singapore%u2019s Straits Times added 0.39 percent or 12.75 points at 3,292.39.
Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was up 0.17 percent or 15.12 points at 9,155.84. Seoul Composite shut today.
