THE INSTITUTIONS
Babson College, the global leader in entrepreneurship education and research, IAE-Universidad Austral, and
Universidad de San Andrés, are bringing an exciting opportunity to Argentina. Through the Price-Babson
Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators (SEE), Babson College has shared its entrepreneurship education
expertise with academics and entrepreneurs from around the world. For more than 20 years, the Price-Babson
program has been the foremost entrepreneurship faculty development program, with more than 1,350 alumni
worldwide. Participants, who consist of academics teamed with entrepreneurs, are encouraged to identify, plan,
and personalize their entrepreneurship teaching strategy, as well as to improve as teachers, learners, researchers,
colleagues, and entrepreneurs.
Now, with the support of a Babson Argentinian alumnus, Babson College and our partner schools are pleased to
bring a customized version of SEE to entrepreneurship educators in Argentina. In an intensive, three-day Babson
SEE program at IAE-Universidad Austral, we will explore the entrepreneurial process, the “art and craft” of teaching
and learning entrepreneurship, and core topics in the discipline. The goal of the program is to help all participants
become more effective, innovative teachers of entrepreneurship. While the course will be taught primarily in
English, simultaneous translation will be available for those more comfortable with Spanish. Topics covered in the
program include:
• The Quest for Master Teaching • Family Enterprising
• Mapping the Entrepreneurship Territory • Corporate Entrepreneurship
• Cultivating the Entrepreneurial Mind-set • Entrepreneurship Curriculum and Alternative Pedagogies
• New Venture Creation • Entrepreneurial Finance
• The Entrepreneurial Mind in Action
PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROGRAM
Who should attend? Anyone actively involved in teaching entrepreneurship in the region or who would like to
become involved! Even those with years of teaching experience will find this a valuable learning and sharing expe-
rience. Ideally, your college or university should have a serious commitment to entrepreneurship education and
research. It already may have entrepreneurship courses, an entrepreneurship major, or perhaps plans to launch one
soon. Those who hope to expand faculty and course offerings will certainly want to consider attending this program.
Please note that the program requires attendees to apply in teams, where each team consists, at a minimum, of one
teacher and one entrepreneur interested in the teaching of entrepreneurship. In addition, because of the important
role that government policy can play in encouraging and supporting the creation of new enterprises in Argentina,
the Babson SEE program encourages the participation of a number of policymakers from throughout the region.
Therefore, we encourage universities interested in attending to include faculty, entrepreneurs, and policymakers
on their teams.
WHY REQUIRE TEAMS WITH ENTREPRENEURS?
We require that each team include an entrepreneur because, quite simply, entrepreneurs can make excellent teachers.
This belief is rooted in several premises:
• Teaching effectiveness and educational value in new ventures and entrepreneurship courses can be
greatly enhanced by educators who bring significant entrepreneurial experience to the classroom.
• Successful entrepreneurs are, by necessity and natural inclination, superior learners and superior teachers—
they do this every day. Many have a keen interest in teaching, but feel a need for assistance with
teaching skills, syllabus and course development, and pedagogy—especially the case method—and related
“how-to-teach” approaches. They know they cannot be effective with “war stories” alone.
• These prospective educators are sensitive to the need to balance relevant, rigorous, and disciplined
course content and pedagogy with the unique lessons and insights that practical experience alone
can bring into the classroom.
