Today perception is the biggest enemy of an individual. It can make an individual great or it can pull him down. We claim ourselves to be great professionals but as human being we fall easily for our perception.
No, I am not a slave of my perception always, but many times, yes it dominates. We believe what we perceive and as everything changes, so do the perceptions and our mind accepts it, so, basically everyone is a slave of his perception but accepts the fact against his perception only if provided with enough reasons and facts & figures to oppose the perception. Then our mind switches from perception to validated understanding.
As we grow older and become more conscious of the way our mind plays tricks on us in the light of our likes and dislikes, our pride and prejudices, pre-conceived notions and misconceptions and also, become more and more experienced in the ways of the world, we do tend to play down the initial perception of any thing, people or event that we experience in this world. We do try to judge matters more objectively through a process of reasoning or through discussions with significant others. Objectivity is thus a part of our survival technique in fact.
