Any hopes for me ?

Hello,

I dunno if this is the correct section for posting this thread, if not please move it to the right section. I am a Commerce student currently studying at R.A Podar College of Commerce & Economics (Mumbai, India). I have just finished my S.Y.BCom and will finish my final year (T.Y.Bcom) by 2010. I plan to do my MBA in USA and have started doing all the necessary spadework from now.

Now let me explain my situation....

I have secured 64% in my 10th Standard.
I am a 12th dropout in Maths which i eventually cleared.
I got an A.T.K.T in Economics @ F.Y.Bcom which i have cleared now.
So if you look at it i am just an average student (between 40-50%).

I plan to score anywhere between 55% to 65% in my final year (T.Y.Bcom) and if i give my GMAT i feel i should score anywhere between (550 to 650)

As i said i plan to pursue my MBA in USA and taking my current acedemic record into consideration, i know its gonna be a pretty tough task. I dont plan getting into Wharton, Stanford or any of these top notch universities as i very well know that they are not in my league.

Are there any hopes for me to get into a fairly decent university or should i give up and think about doing something in India ? Are your previous academic records a primary factor considered by most B-Schools ?

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards

Academic scores are important but not to an extent where it makes or breaks your admissions.

Cover bad academics with substantial work experience or a really good gmat score clubbed with an excellent SOP and you should be able to get into a decent bschool abroad.

In India, most PG courses focus more on work experience and street smart skills than acads. Its exactly the opposite when it comes to MMS course.

You will have to really work hard and you will have to score something good in any entrance exam. Or you can take admission in management quota of any good college. contact
