An Interview with Prof. Vishal Jain



1. Please help us with a brief introduction about you, your institution and your latest work or achievements.

Presently I am working in Bharati Vidyapeeth s Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi. I am doing P.hD in Information Retrieval from Computer Science and Engineering from Lingaya s University, Faridabad and completed M.Tech (CSE) from University Institute of Information Techniology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Along with this I did MCP, CCNA, PGDCST, AGDCST and PGDBM. My research area is Information Retrieval and the Semantic Web. I have published more than fifteen papers in international/National journals and conferences.

2. Please throw some light on Web Semantic .

The Semantic Web is the extension of the World Wide Web that enables people to share content beyond the boundaries of applications and websites. It has been described in rather different ways: as a topic vision, as a web of data, or merely as a natural paradigm shift in our daily use of the Web

3. What are the career opportunities in Web Semantic ?

In the Semantic Web Layered Architecture, Sir Tim Berners Lee has defined different layers like Ontology, XML, OWL, SPARQL and many more. Person can select any layer to start work on the Semantic Web. Mainly aim of using semantic web is make information retrieval fast and effective.

4. Which is the necessary certification courses required in Web semantic?

No any such certification defined.

5. Do you think Artificial Intelligence can be threat to man power?

Artificial Intelligence may initially be created in the image of man, individualistic man. By networking different CPUs, and with distributed processing, Artificial Intelligence will diverge from individualistic man into some sort of distributed intelligence system. By creating a transparent, co-dependent artificial intelligence network, we may maximize the chances for friendly AI to predominate.

6. Increasing use of biometrics, robotics, and so on has changed the business environment. Do you think automation will led to more unemployment?

With the increasing use of Biometric, Robotics and so on, I can say that employment is also increasing. But the level of employment has been changed. People need to update their skills and knowledge time to time for survive in this Automation World.

7. Wireless networking is one of the booming industries in networking industry. Do you look this as an opportunity for networking business?

Yes, there are so many career options in Wireless Network.

8. Do you feel certification courses for networking and hardware will be an added value to the student s profile?

Yes. I always suggest students to go for some specialization course during their academic curriculum. Generally, students cover only theory part in their course curriculum. By this they can not get practical exposure, but with the certification like CCNA, MCP they get to know how to connect two PC s and how to configure client-server model. By this, students can give some good impression on their CV s while go for some interview and all.

9. With emergence of new version of operating system of Windows, do you think the user friendliness has reached its next level?

Yes. Now a days user take much more advantage from the window OS like Windows 7 or 8 as compared to previous version of Windows 2000, XP.

10. Nowadays people opt for both open source and regular operating systems. According to you, which are more helpful to end user?

According to my view, Proprietary software is better than Open Source or free ware software for the layman user. As in proprietary software, you can get assurance for maintenance but in open source there is very possibility of support system.

11. Outsourcing has been prominent business for IT sector, but recent political change might downsize the business. What s your take on this?

That depend on the view of business.

12. Do you think the education system in India is efficient enough to build IT professionals according to the company standards?

No, there is requirement to make some changes in our Leaning Model. Teachers have to find out new idea to train the students for corporate.

13. Increasing social media, internet, intranet, and mobile communication has created much impact on employees. Do you think this has facilitated the students?

Everything has pros and cons, only depend on person how they are using these things. With these media, students can share their ideas among student or expertise community.

14. What is your management mantra?

In my terms, if the people arrange the work or task accordingly than never it will be work loaded.
