Q1. Being a student of IIM-K is it a different feeling?
Being an IIM student automatically puts various kinds of challenges over an individual academically. But IIM K is a bit different to some extent. The most scenic campus across all IIMs is not just putting emphasis on academic excellence but there is a continuous effort to make its students conscious about the social issues around them so that in future the value proposition from our end to the corporate should contain societal aspect too.
Q2.Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
It was not an entrepreneurship venture but the need of the missing products (Fresh Juices and Milk Shakes) demanded me to take up the challenge and set up the whole thing
Q3. How did Shakes Peer Click? .Why this name to the drink?
I was wanted to keep a catchy name and one day when I was thinking of the same I saw something about Shakespeare and then I noticed word shake in the same. While thinking for couple of more minutes I changed the spelling of 2nd half to Peer (friends). I wanted to keep name as Shakes 4 Peers [/i]but this was not so easy to remember as Shakes Peer[/i]. This is how the brand was named J
Q4. Can you tell us something about the initial days- what kind of challenges, struggles did you face?
i am telling you that every single day of operation used to bring different set of challenges for me. the challenge was to initiate everything in state of kerala where i don’t know Malyalam. The other biggest challenge was to get the untrained labor, train him (trained labor will be more costly). After that the other challenge was to get approval from IIM (government) administration to run a profit making venture in the campus as a student. Marketing of the product was not so difficult compare to these bigger challenges
Q5. Can you brief us about how is it different from other drinks?
The product values are : Healthy, Hygeinic, Fresh, No Hand contact[/b]
What else you need? My product scores really high on all these parameters. Meanwhile we also insure that the product is delivered with 1-2 minutes. So the constraint of time is also addressed
Q6. Besides you who are all involved in setting up Shakes peer brief us about the founders and profiles.
First of all I will like to thank our Director Debasis Chatterjee and Prof Nandakumar to appreciate the idea and help me in getting administrative approval. I would also like to thank to MD of Sakthi Kitchen Pvt ltd for helping me in handling HR and allowing me to setup business that is in their premises
Q7. Right now you are juggling between your MBA and Shakes Peer. Is it too hectic?
As I said earlier, labor is the most critical resource of any venture; So when he is working well I am relaxed and I can work on other things of Shakes Peer. The problem comes when he ditches
Q8. What plans ahead for Shakes Peer?
I dream to start similar business processes in other IIMs and other colleges. To start with I am targeting north indian colleges. Let’s see how far it goes
Q9. Any message to young entrepreneurs?
Never consider any issue lightly. You may have to work hard for the smallest concerns. Always be ready with plan B.
