Advanta buys Limagrain USA sunflower business

SECUNDERABAD: Leading global seed company, Advanta India Ltd has acquired through its subsidiary the sunflower seed business of Limagrain in USA.

The acquisition will further strengthen Advanta’s already existing sunflower breeding programmess across the world. The sunflower breeding programmes of Advanta is the largest in the world with market access across Asia Pacific, Africa and Latin America.

“This acquisition brings in lot of synergies to Advanta US Inc where we already acquired Garisson and Townsend Sorghum seed business with many common customers and very similar business philosophies in both companies. It enhances our ability to serve customers in USA, Canada and elsewhere,” a company release said.

Advanta belongs to the United Phosphorus Group of companies and provides seed products and solutions across the world. Advanta has been following a multi-channel, private label marketing and distribution model for breeding and marketing sunflower hydrids in India and abroad.
